CAS No.: 16079-88-2
Molecular Formula: C5H6N2BrClO2
Molecular Weight: 241.47
Structural Formula:
BCDMH is white or off-white crystal powder, slightly dissolved in water and also dissoluble in many organic solvents.
BCDMH can be further processed as granular and tablet. It is stable when dry and easy to decompose when moistened.
BCDMH tablets are broad-spectrum halogen release products. It is used to control the growth of algae, slime, biofilm, bacterial and fungal populations in industrial water systems. BCDMH tablets contain bromo-chloro-dimethyl-hydantoin as the active ingredient, which slowly releases bromine and chlorine when placed in water.
Bromochlorodimethylhydantoin is also an excellent source of both chlorine and bromine as it reacts slowly with water releasing hypochlorous acid and hypobromous acid. It used as a chemical disinfectant for recreational water sanitation and drinking water purification.
