Structural Formula:

OIT biocide

Properties

The active content of the 2-Octyl-2H-Isothiazol-3-one (OIT) is 45% or 95%. The specific gravity of the OIT biocide is 1.03~1.04.

2-Octyl-2H-Isothiazol-3-one (OIT) is a low toxicity biocide. It is specifically developed for the complete microbiological protection of water-based and solvent-based products against bacterial and fungal spoilage in the wet state.

OIT biocide formulas are as follows:

  1. In 1963, Goerdeler and Mittle published the preparation method of isothiazolinone. The isothiazolinone is prepared by the dentification of P-thione amide in an inert organic solvent.
  2. In 1965, Grow and Leonard proposed that isothiazolinone could be prepared by treating β-thiocyanatoacrylamine or thioacrylamine with acid (such as sulfuric acid).
  3. In the 1970s, Rohm & Hass Company of the United States applied for a patent for the preparation of a series of isothiazolinones. The preparation method is to react 3-hydroxyisothiazolinone with a catalyst to obtain isothiazolinone.
  4. In 1973, Rohm & Hass Company of the United States proposed a new preparation method for isothiazolinone homologues, that is, dithiodiamide reacted with halogenating agent in inert solvent.
  5. In 1974, Rohm & Hass Company of the United States again proposed the method of preparing isothiazolinone with mercaptoamide as raw material.
  6. The commonly used synthesis method is to use dithiodipropionyl chloride as raw material to synthesize isothiazolinone fungicides.
  7. Synthesize that isothiazolinone compound by using the o-N-substituted phenylamine as a ring-closing raw material.

Applications

This octylisothiazolinone (OIT) is effective against mildew, bacteria, and fungi. It is widely used in a variety of industrial applications. Such as water treatment, paper pulp, coating & painting, metal cutting fluid, personal care products, cosmetics, etc.

The 2-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (OIT) has the advantage of broad-spectrum antibiosis. This product has a good ability to inhibit fungi, bacteria, mold, and enzyme bacteria.

The octyl isothiazolinone (OIT) has low toxicity. It contains no formaldehyde and has no peculiar smell.

The 2-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (OIT) has a strong capability of killing mildew, the effect is obviously superior to that of the traditional mildew inhibitor, and the octyl isothiazolinone (OIT) is an updated product of the traditional paint film mildew inhibitor.

The octyl isothiazolinone (OIT) is harmless to the environment, can be naturally degraded into non-toxic substances, and does not pollute the environment.
